Equipment
Reformer beds
A wide variety of exercises are done on the reformer to promote length, strength, flexibility, and balance. Most Pilates reformer exercises have to do with pushing or pulling the carriage or holding the carriage steady during an exercise as it is pulled on by the springs.
Combo Chair
The Pilates chair was designed by Joseph Pilates to be a resistance tool. It is essentially a box with one side that can be pressed down against the resistance of springs, like a large pedal. Sometimes the pedal portion is divided into two parts that can be worked independently.
Traditionally, Pilates chairs were made of wood, with a padded top and pedal. The original chairs that Joseph Pilates designed actually did double-duty as furniture, converting into sitting chairs.
Swiss ball
Swiss/Exercise balls are great for developing good overall muscle tone for your entire body. They can be utilized for specific rehabilitation such as rehabilitating back, hip, and knee injuries but can also be used to deliver a powerful workout to improve core stability, posture, and muscle balance.
